INDIA'S SULPHUR DIOXIDE EMISSION AMONG HIGHEST IN WORLD

India's emission of the air pollutant sulphur dioxide increased by 50 per cent since 2007, while China's fell by 75 per cent,claims a study which found that India is yet to implement emission controls like its neighbor. The study led by researchers at University of Maryland in the US suggested that India is becoming, if it is not already, the word's top sulphur dioxide emitter. Sulphur dioxide is an air pollutant that causes acid rain, haze and many health related problems. It is produced predominantly when coal is burned to generate electricity. "The rapid decrease of sulphur dioxide emission in China far exceeds expectations and projection", said Can Li, an associate research scientist at University of Maryland. "This suggests that China is implementing sulphur dioxide controls beyond what climate modellers  have taken into account," said Li,first author of the study published in the journal Scientific Reports. INDIA: 12 YEAR OLD INDIAN GIRL SING IN 85 LANGUAGES FOR GUINNESS WORLD RECORD

A 12 year old Indian girl,who can sing songs in 80 languages, is trying to break the Guinness World Record in singing in most language in one concert,according to a media report. Suchetha Satish, a grade seven student of The Indian High school in Dubai, will attempt to sing songs in 85 languages during the attempt scheduled for December 29, the Gulf News reported. The Dubai prodigy said she knows to sing songs in 80 languages, a skill she acquired in just over a year. Her plan is to learn at least five more songs in five different languages before she attempts to break the record, the repots said. Hailing from Kerala, Suchetha already knew to sing in some Indian lenguages like Hindi,Malyalam and Tamil. She also been singing English songs in school competitions.
